Just ranting…

February 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

My sister has this uber viral thing and I’m afraid I’m feeling the symptoms right now. It’s only two days before the achievements tests (which are really lame, might I add) and less than two weeks before the Sigaw! concert and the Townhall. I don’t want to be a niche for the virus during those days. I so can’t work with a terrible, terrible headache.  :(

“Things are sort of fuzzy”- Modern Quantum Scientists

February 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The brain is not the most trustworthy storage device. There are some things that you remember, but there are some things, no matter how meticulously rack up your brain, you really won’t remember. Some say it’s memory loss. Some say it’s old age invading the systems. Well, I say it’s selective memory. We tend to discard things that we don’t need–and want– to remember. The brain remembers what it wants to remember. Just like the eyes see what they want to see.

But sometimes, you really just forget. Memory comes to you like a flashback scene in a really old movie that you’re watching on free TV. The signal gets lost and everything turns fuzzy. It’s really frustrating and annoying, not because you missed the scene, but because people are pestering you to tell the story. You can’t do anything about it because you don’t know it yourself. You just curl up and wish that Santa takes you and those people inside the television set so you can see everything clearly.

Preventing your television from losing coverage is easy. You just get longer antenna or a parabolic dish for better reception. I wish preventing memory loss was that simple. Easy install nano parabolic dish for better reception and better memory retention. Just cut your skull open and stick everything in. Huh, the geniuses of the world have not yet invented that. I’ll beat them to it.

But while I’m not yet a certified genius of the world like Albert Einstein, I’m going to concentrate on keeping people off my back just like what Mr. Einstein did. Maybe with less distractions, I might just remember…

Sigaw! Finale Concert Guidelines

February 1, 2009 · 1 Comment

because I’m desperate I love AKSIS too much…

For all students interested to participate in the Sigaw! concert on February 20 at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani, please pay attention to the following guidelines.

1. The concert on the 20th will be an open air concert at the garden of the Bantayog ng mga Bayani. It will also be a contest, with one piece being declared the official song of Sigaw! 2009.

2. This contest is open to all winning entries from the first round of eliminations done last July 2008. Note that a song, not necessarily a band, is entered in the competition.

3. We will limit band members to five (5) individuals only. Bands with a repertoire requiring more than five members will have to justify themselves during the orientation.

4. Band members may hail from different sections. Be sure to express your intent to join the contest to your social studies teacher for this will be credited to your standing.

5. Orientation will be on February 6 (Friday), 12:00 to 12:50pm at the 4th Floor Auditorium. Attendance is a must. Absence will forfeit your chance to perform on the 20th.

6. There are no registration fees to be paid.

7. A cash prize and a recording session awaits the winning entry. An audience choice will also be awarded, earning a certain percentage of ticket sales.

8. Proceeds of the entire affair will go to the outreach projects of AKSIS and the PSHS Main Campus.

9. There will be a technical rehearsal on February 19, 4:30 to 7:00pm. Await further announcements regarding schedules for that day.

Download the guidelines in PDF for easy distribution.

tell your lovely classmates, or better yet, join the concert. you’d be thankful you did…

Can’t say I wasn’t warned….

February 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I learned my lesson but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not doing it again. Where else can you find pretty pink ponies galloping on top of a granite-top bar? Only when you’ve had shots of tequila and a glass of Tanqueray martini.

Tsk. Santa’s not giving me any gifts this year….
